The RCSC is led by Ingrid Visseren-Hamakers (Professor Environmental Governance and Politics, Faculty of Management) and Ad Ragas (Associate Professor Environmental Science, Faculty of Science). A small group of Radboud University researchers and lecturers from all faculties and an external advisory board are the internal and external pillars of the RCSC. 100 years Radboud University

Radboud University is one of the best traditional, general universities of the Netherlands, situated on a green campus south of the Nijmegen city centre. Our university wants to contribute to a healthy, free world with equal opportunities for all. Something which in October of 2023, we have been doing for 100 years.

Mission and Strategy

Our university wants to contribute to a free and healthy world with equal opportunities for all and to make a significant impact on a regional and an international level.

Who are we?

Radboud University is a private university that owes its origins to the Catholic emancipation movement that was active at the start of the twentieth century. The university’s staff members and students feel connected to each other, to society, and to the world around them. We focus our attention on taking care of each other and the world around us and we are committed to equal rights for social and cultural minorities. We want to make a difference and, to this end, we are guided by academic issues and social challenges.

History & Identity

Radboud University was founded on 17 October 1923 under the name Catholic University Nijmegen. The Dutch Catholic population planned to use its university to promote the emancipation of Catholics in the Netherlands who, at that time, were strongly under-represented in such areas as public administration, the legal profession and the medical sector.
