Frequently asked questions
Registration & Payment
How do I register for the 2009 Amsterdam Conference?
Registration is compulsory for all participants. The number of participants is limited. Registration for the 2009 Amsterdam Conference takes place via the conference website. Note that currently there is a waiting list for participants with no presentation of an accepted paper. See here for more information on the registration procedure, the waiting list, and how to start your registration.
Can I get a Letter of Invitation to obtain a visa?
The conference organisers are glad to issue a Letter of Invitation to registered participants who already paid their registration fee. Please address your request to email@example.com. Your request should contain your full name, the address where the letter should be send to, and your registration number (provided at the end of the registration procedure). Please note that requests for Letters of Invitation will only be processed if both registration and payment are completed. The conference organisation will not respond to or act upon requests that do not fulfil these requirements. Unfortunately, we can not offer further assistance in the visa application procedure and we reserve the right to deny issuing a Letter of Invitation without providing reason.
Can I get financial support?
The conference committee has a limited budget available for financial support to participants from non-OECD countries with an accepted paper. We will allocate this budget on a 'merit base', i.e. we intend to support those participants that received the highest average grades for their paper abstracts in the review process. All participants eligible for financial support will be contacted individually. Until further notice, only those participants contacted will be considered for financial support.
If you do not have an accepted abstract for the 2009 Amsterdam Conference, there will be no funding available and requests for funding will not be processed.
Can I get a reduced registration fee?
There are reduced registration fees for students (graduate and Ph.D.), for participants from developing countries, and for members of the co-hosting institutions of the 2009 Amsterdam Conference. See here for the registration procedure and the available fee options.
Can I attend the conference for just one day?
The 2009 Amsterdam Conference does not have a special day-rate. Of course you can attend just for one day but the full registration fee will be due.
Papers & Presentations
Has my paper abstract been accepted?
On 18 July 2009 all authors of paper abstracts have been informed about the outcome of the review process by email. If you submitted an abstract but did not receive the notification than contact the conference organisation at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please first check if the email was maybe blocked by your spam filter.
Are there guidelines for full papers?
The scientific quality of your paper is most important. Basic voluntary guidelines are available for download (pdf). Please note that the deadline for submission of full papers (preferably in pdf format) is 15 November 2009.
When do I have to present my paper?
The programme of the 2009 Amsterdam Conference is in development. A preliminary programme is available here and will be updated frequently. A preliminary schedule for the panel sessions with the paper presentations will be available by the end of October 2009. The conference organization aims at creating a coherent programme. Therefore, the conference organization assumes that all presenters will be available the entire conference.
Will my paper be published?
We will not publish full conference proceedings, but make all papers available online at the conference website shortly before the conference. In addition, a number of special journal issues and/or edited volumes of papers within distinct conference streams are being planned by stream coordinators.
What are the possibilities for book and project presentations?
There will be market stream where participants may very briefly present research projects and/or books. The space is limited, and we advise you to contact us at email@example.com as soon as possible if you wish to present in the ´market stream´.
Can requests with respect to panel-formation be made?
Requests for the clustering of papers in one panel can be send to firstname.lastname@example.org. Requests will be respected to the extent possible.
