Earth System Governance Research Centres

The Earth System Governance Research Centres support the implementation of specific parts of the Earth System Governance Science Plan, for example by sharing responsibility for the analysis of one particular analytical problem or one particular flagship activity. Currently, there is a Research Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; in Chiang Mai, Thailand; and in Colorado, United States of America. Three more Research Centres are in a planning phase.

Earth System Govermance Research Centre Amsterdam

The Department of Environmental Policy Analysis at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, is committed to contribute to the implementation of the Earth System Governance Project as part of the global alliance of Earth System Governance Research Centres. Within the Earth System Governance Project, the Department of Environmental Policy Analysis at IVM plans to contribute research on all analytical problems identified in the Science and Implementation Plan, with particular emphasis on the analytical themes of Architecture; Agency; and Adaptiveness.

Earth System Govermance Research Centre Chiang Mai

The Unit for Social and Environmental Research (USER) at Chiang Mai University is a small inter-disciplinary research group. We have long-standing interests in governance of natural resources and environmental change, including water and forests. USER joined the global alliance of Earth System Governance Research Centres with the intention of helping stimulate and support work on the problem of Adaptiveness.

Earth System Govermance Research Centre Colorado

The Environmental Governance Working Group at Colorado State University, United States, is committed to contributing to the implementation of the Earth System Governance Project as part of the global alliance of Earth System Governance Research Centres. The Colorado research centre will in particular contribute research on the analytical problems of Agency, Adaptiveness, and Allocation as well as on the cross-cutting themes of knowledge and scale.
