* Registration Open - 2012 Lund Conference on Earth System Governance
Registration for the “Lund Conference on Earth System Governance – Towards a Just and Legitimate Earth System Governance: Addressing Inequalities” is now open. The conference is part of the global series organized by the Earth System Governance Project, and will be held 18-20 April 2012 in Lund, Sweden. The Lund Conference on Earth System Governance will be the major environmental governance research event in 2012. It is jointly organized by the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS) and the Department of Political Science at Lund University, on behalf of the Earth System Governance Project. * Launch of “Planet Under Pressure” Policy Brief Series – Press Release “U.N. Overhaul Required to Govern Planet’s Life Support System”
A series of policy briefs have been prepared for the 2012 London Conference “Planet Under Pressure”. The policy briefs target policy-makers in the Rio+20 preparation processes to give them access to the latest scientific thinking on sustainable development issues. The Planet Under Pressure consortium has now released the first five of nine policy briefs: on biodiversity and ecosystem services, food and water security, interconnected risks and solutions, and a topic common to all: reforming environmental governance. * Save the date: Earth System Governance Tokyo Conference
The Tokyo Conference on Earth System Governance will be held 28-31 January 2013 at the United Nations University (UNU) Conference Center at the UNU headquarters, Tokyo, Japan. This conference will be the fourth in a global series organized by the Earth System Governance Project. The Earth System Governance Tokyo Conference will be jointly hosted by the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS), the International Environmental Governance Architecture Research Group and the Tokyo Institute of Technology on behalf of the Earth System Governance Project. * “Towards a Charter Moment. Hakone Vision on Governance for Sustainability in the 21st Century”
The Hakone Vision Factory on Earth System Governance “Bridging the Science-Policy Boundary” has been held in Hakone, Japan, 27-29 September 2011. The meeting brought together policy makers and experts from the earth system governance scientific community. The outcome of the workshop - “Towards a Charter Moment.
