Harry Barnes-Dabban is the founder and Executive Coordinator for Ports Environmental Network-Africa (PENAf), a non-profit organisation with an interest in environmental management and performance in African Ports. He worked with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, and was instrumental in setting up its environment department. He has initiated the African Ports Environment Initiative (APEI) aimed at creating a platform for environmental information, best practice exchange, and knowledge sharing among African ports. He has through this initiative done pioneering work in environmental management in ports in sub-Sahara Africa. His has research interests in environmental policy and governance for ports and is currently researching into environmental cooperation among West and Central Africa ports. He has peer reviewed works on two Flanders projects; Environmental Management in Ports of Ghana and Environmental Management for Ports Areas in Bulgaria. He has also reviewed some manuscripts for Environment, Development and Sustainability Journal.
