Ruben Zondervan is Executive Director of the Earth System Governance Project. He is based at the International Project Office hosted by Lund University, Sweden. Since December 2017 he also serves as acting executive director of Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future.
Ruben Zondervan is a specialist in international social science research management and science-policy. He is experienced in science communication, international network development, strategic planning, project and event management, policy advisory & public affairs, and fundraising; and has a strong interest in politics of science and science of politics.
Other appointments include those of director of the Earth System Governance Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of the International Environmental Communications Association (IECA), and coordinator for Policy and Science Stakeholder Relations in the Management Committee of the COST Action Ocean Governance for Sustainability – challenges, options and the role of science.
He studied political science, modern history, law, and economics in Freiburg im Breisgau and political sciences in Potsdam, and holds a degree in environment & resource management from the VU University Amsterdam. Prior to his current position, he gained work experience in diplomacy, industry consulting, research, and international research management.
