Registration and Payment

Can I attend the conference for just one day?

For those who are not strictly social science or humanities scholars and would like to engage with the conference for only one day or particular session, it is possible to acquire a one-day ticket at a reduced fee. For example: if you have been invited to participate as a discussant or presenter in a Stream 6 (inter or transdisciplinary) Panel or Innovative Session. If you are presenting a regular paper, you are expected to pay the full fee. If there is a doubt, please contact RC2023@earthsystemgovernance.org explaining your particular situation.

I need to cancel my participation. Can I ask for a reimbursement for the registration fee?

If you need to cancel your participation after registering, please email us at RC2023@earthsystemgovernance.org

In case of cancellation before 1 September 2023, we will repay the registration fee with a deduction of 25% for banking and administrative costs.

After 1 September 2023, the registration fee is non-refundable.

I have registered for online attendance but I now want to attend on-site. Can I change my registration ticket?

Changes are only possible before 1 September 2023. The new ticket fee will correspond to the price of registration on the date of the change.

After 1 September 2023, the registration ticket cannot be changed anymore.

I have registered for onsite attendance, but I now want to attend online. Can I change my registration ticket?

Changes between registration packages are only possible before or by 1 September 2023. The new ticket fee will correspond to the date of change.

As virtual tickets are generally less expensive than Full Registration tickets, conference administration will repay you back additional costs with a deduction of 25% for banking and administrative costs.

After 1 September 2023, the registration ticket cannot be changed anymore.

Conference Format

Will be possible to attend the 2023 Radboud Conference virtually?

Main conference (24-26 October)

Yes, virtual attendance is possible. It enables the author to present on hybrid panels as well as hybrid innovative session participation. Plenary and Semi-Plenary Sessions will be streamed for virtual participants.
Virtual Registration tickets are for those who wish to attend remotely and present virtually, and are offered at a substantially reduced price.

South-South Dialogues and Early Career Researchers Days (22-23 October)

Some elements of the South-South Dialogues and Early Career Researchers Days will be streamed for those with online tickets.

Taskforce and Working Group Meeting Day (27 October)

Depending on the Taskforce/Working Group, conveners might also decide to host online or hybrid meetings.

What time zones does the 2023 conference accommodate for virtual presentations?

We seek to best accommodate global access for attendees to the 2023 Radboud Conference.

How long should I present for?

The time allotted to your presentation will depend on the numbers of presenters in your panel. As a general guideline, the standard Q&A will be 30 minutes. Therefore, estimated guidelines are:
  • Three presenters in your panel = 20 minutes each
  • Four Presenters in your panel = 15 minutes each
  • Five presenters in your panel = 12 minutes each
  • Six Presenters = 10 minutes each
Please be mindful to respect the chair’s guidelines, and allow each presenter to receive sufficient space for presentation and questions.

Is there a conference schedule available?

Not yet, we will release a preliminary schedule in early September.

Financial and Access Questions

Is financial support available?

The Earth System Governance Project, in collaboration with the conference co-host the German Institute of Development and Sustainability – IDOS allocated funds to provide financial support to early-career participants and individuals from lower income countries attending the 2023 Radboud conference. All available funds have been allocated, and eligible participants have been contacted individually.

Is a reduced registration fee available?

There is a reduced registration fee for students and participants from lower income countries, and for representatives of co-hosting institutions. Students (graduate and PhD) must supply a document, such as a student ID or letter of supervisor/university, stating that the student is currently enrolled at a college or university by email to ipo@earthsystemgovernance.org. The country of residence in a low, lower-middle, or upper-middle income economy according to World Bank classification 2016 is determining eligibility for the developing country rate. Note: eligibility thus is based on country of residence, not on citizenship. Eligible for the co-host fee are staff members of the co-hosting institutions of the conference, as well as the speakers of the semi-plenaries organized by the co-hosting institutions.

2022 opening plenary of #ESG2022

The official opening session of the 2022 Toronto Conference on Earth System Governance was hosted at the conference venue and streamed live to virtual attendees.

The keynote presentation was by Tzeporah Berman: “Oil Politics in a World on Fire”
