Travel Grant Application

Travel Grant Application

Thanks to the generous support of the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change at the University of Bath, we can offer travel grants to a limited number of participants in our 2026 Bath ESG Conference. This document serves as a guidance of our travel grant scheme, including its regulations and application processes.

  1. The travel grants will be offered to researchers from low- and middle-income countries and early career researchers, especially Master and PhD students.
  2. Applicants must have at least one contribution accepted by the conference. Priority will be given to paper presenters.
  3. The maximum amount of a grant awarded to a participant is £1275 (including conference registration fee waiver).
  4. The application should provide legitimate reasons and detail funding needs (which can include registration fee waiver, travel and accommodation costs). We will allocate funding based on the needs of each application. We will try our best to meet the needs of our applicants and provide funding to as many applicants as possible. However, due to funding limitations, we may not be able to allocate the amount requested.
  5. The decisions will be made by the conference organising committee based on their assessment of the applications.
  6. If you request funding for accommodation, our preference is to book university accommodation for you (which is much cheaper than other options in the city) and deduct the expenses from the allocated fund. The standard university accommodation provides en-suite bedrooms.
  7. The application must be submitted online to the conference organising committee using this form: Application for travel grants of the 2026 Bath Conference on Earth System Governance – Fill out form.
  8. The application will be open from 1 April 2026 until 30 April 2026.

During four days in August 2025, more than 400 participants from over 70 countries came together in Johannesburg for TC/ESG 2025, a joint conference organized by the Earth System Governance Project, the Transformations Community and the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, dedicated to navigating sustainability transformations toward justice and equity.

Have a look at the opening plenary session, which was recorded and shared with the broader audience!
