How to apply
To apply for becoming an Earth System Governance Research Fellow, please submit a CV, list of publications and a short motivation letter that expresses how your work relates to the Earth System Governance Science Plan (not more than 1 page).
In the application, please specify what research lenses and contextual conditions of the Science Plan your research is most closely associated with and whether you want to be considered a senior fellow.
The International Project Office of the Earth System Governance Project will evaluate the applications, and will subsequently contact the applicants upon acceptance.

To become a Research Fellow, you should meet the following criteria:
- Having completed a Master degree relevant to the field of Earth System Governance and to be actively engaged in academic research. Any PhD students, Post-docs, Researchers, Senior Scientists, Professors (Assistant, Associate, Full) are suitable candidates to be part of the ESG Network as Research Fellows.
- Having at least 1 publication related to or in the field of Earth System Governance. For early career researchers we will take into consideration also conference papers and other types of peer-reviewed publications.
- CVs, publications list and motivation letter are part of the application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to explain how they relate their research interests and activities to the ESG Science and Implementation Plan 2018. The motivation letter should not be longer than one page.
To become a Senior Research Fellow:
- Having completed a PhD relevant to the field of Earth System Governance and to have been actively engaged in academic research for five years after the completion of said degree. Post-docs, Senior Scientists, Professors (Assistant, Associate, Full) are suitable candidates to be part of the ESG Network as Senior Research Fellows.
- Having at least 12 publications related to or in the field of Earth System Governance.
- CVs, publications list and motivation letter are part of the application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to explain how they relate their research interests and activities to the ESG Science and Implementation Plan 2018. The motivation letter should not be longer than one page
