Event description

The 9th ECPR General Conference will include a conference section titled “Environmental Politics” under which there is a proposed panel endorsed by the Earth System Governance Project on “Conceptual Foundations of Earth System Governance“. The panel is organized and co-chaired by James Meadowcroft, Department of Political Science, Carleton University, and Hayley Stevenson, Department of Politics, University of Sheffield.

Panel Abstract

Conceptual Foundations of Earth System Governance. This panel will bring together papers exploring the key ideas that are framing debates around environmental governance during a period of global environmental change and earth system transformation. We anticipate papers focused on particular concepts (such as ‘planetary boundaries’, ‘environmental limits’, ‘the Anthropocene’, ‘resilience’, ‘the green economy’, etc.), as well as theoretical papers exploring the relationship between conceptual innovation and institutional innovation.  Please find detailed information on this panel information here
