Imagining a Different Future: Overcoming Barriers to Climate Justice

Australia
Hobart, Tasmania
Event start: 20180208
End date: 20180209

Event description

The Earth System Governance Project is pleased to endorse a multidisciplinary Conference, Imagining a Different Future: Overcoming Barriers to Climate Justice, to be held 8-9 February 2018 in Hobart, Tasmania.

The organisers are seeking abstracts on any of the Conference themes by 23:59 on Friday 11 August (Universal Time)

The Conference is being organised by the University of Tasmania and related institutions, with the support of the Utrecht University Institute of Ethics. It aims to explore justice and ethics discourses in the context of international and Australian climate policy making, examine common ground shared amongst different philosophical worldviews in relation to climate change, systematically analyse barriers to implementing climate justice, and consider ways forward.

It will bring together different experts, scientists, philosophers, lawyers etc, working on climate change, with papers pitched at a level accessible to generalists.  There will be wide ranging parallel arts and public engagement programmes. The organisers plan to publish the outcomes of the conference in a monograph or special issue of a journal. A longer term aim is to create a multidisciplinary climate justice network.
