Call for Coordinator: Asia and Pacific Working Group

The Earth Systems Governance Asia and Pacific Working Group (formerly the Asia-Pacific Working Group) is looking for a coordinator to help energize the group and its activities.

Are you researching earth system governance (ESG)-related issues in the Asia and Pacific region, or are you from the region? The ESG Asia and Pacific Working Group is seeking a new coordinator to join the current co-conveners, Annisa Triyanti and Paul G. Harris, to help revive and strengthen the Working Group.

The new coordinator will work with the co-conveners. The main responsibilities of the coordinator can be discussed with them, but might include some or all of the following activities:

  • Planning for the group’s direction, meetings and activities
  • Actively recruiting new members and managing the group’s mailing list and member records
  • Coordinating and contributing to co-authored publications by the group
  • Supporting early-career researchers in the group
  • Participating in the ESG Project’s annual meeting with other groups
  • Liaising with the ESG International Project Office regarding website updates and the group’s annual report
  • Representing the group in relevant occasions, such as working groups and taskforces meetings, conferences and other events

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid position, but one that provides excellent opportunities for networking, leadership and collaboration – and a strong addition to your CV.

Requirements
  • Interest and/or experience in ESG-related research in the Asia and Pacific region
  • Already be, or be willing to become, a Research Fellow of the ESG network
  • Ability to commit time and effort to support the group, probably for a few hours each week on average (NB: the hours per week will be decided in collaboration with the co-conveners)

Early-career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply. It is an advantage if you are originally from the region and/or have strong knowledge of ESG in and/or about the region.

How to apply

If this sounds interesting, please send your CV and short motivation letter to ipo@earthsystemgovernance.org.

Application is open until the position is filled.

Review of submissions will begin 1 December 2025.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the same address.

We look forward to receiving your application!
