The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted and exacerbated the long-standing challenges that global governance and international cooperation face. It has become clear that our international institutions are not sufficient to deal with these global challenges.

A key overarching geopolitical issue is our common global environment, whether we are talking about climate change, the loss of biodiversity, or helping developing countries to provide comfort to their populations’ needs in ways that are more in harmony with planetary limits.

Thinkers, intellectuals and politicians, from around the world, are putting ideas on the table to renew multilateralism. We must hear these voices from Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern countries. To provide an intellectual and pragmatic basis for analyzing the strategies and opportunities for renewing multilateralism focused around sustainable development, IDDRI’s conference programme enables exchanges between Africa, Europe, and Asia and the Pacific in the morning, and with the Americas in the day.

This conference ic co-organized with the European Chair for Sustainable Development and Climate Transition at Sciences Po (PSIA – EAP)
