IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land

The Earth System Governance Project congratulates our Steering Committee member Lennart Olsson (Lund University) and Senior Research Fellow Margot A Hurlbert (University of Regina, Canada) with their appointments as Coordinating Lead Authors for the Climate Change and Land: an IPCC special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems (SRCCL).

Lennart Olsson will be coordinating lead author for chapter 4 on Land Degradation, and Margot A Hurlbert for chapter 7 on Risk management and decision making in relation to sustainable development.

They are two of 104 researchers selected by the IPCC to take part in the work with the report – which will be completed in 2019. In total, the IPCC received 640 nominations from member countries for various posts such as Coordinating Lead Author, Lead Author and Review Editor.

In a short interview on the LUCSUS website, Lennart Olsson reflects on his recent appointment.
