New Managing Director appointed for the International Project Office

Following an international open call and selection procedure, Mr Gustav Thungren has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Earth System Governance International Project Office.

Gustav has been working as Interim Executive Director of the Earth System Governance International Project Office since August 2019, following the departure of Ruben Zondervan. Gustav holds a MSc in Environmental Sciences: Sustainable Development from Utrecht University, and has previously worked in not-for-profit organizations and diplomatic settings in Europe and Australia.

The appointment also reflects a change in title from Executive Director to Managing Director. The International Project Office is hosted by Utrecht University, The Netherlands.
