Postdoc researcher with Biodiversa+ Salty Beats project at Vrije University Amsterdam, to prepare agriculture in 5 EU countries (& Tunisia) for sea-level rise through saline NBS, stakeholder engagement, co-creation, and ecological monitoring.
EU Research
PhD research with €10m EU SCORE project at Atlantic Technological University, to build resilience against coastal hazards in 10 EU countries. Worked on cost-benefit analysis and multi-criteria analysis of NBS; low-cost sensors; digital twin; policy briefs for Irish/EU authorities; etc.
Researcher with €3m EU SSH Centre project, to work on local climate policy strategies with 12 EU municipalities. Researched the role of digital tools for NBS for €6.5m EU EmpowerUs project. Eklipse Expert: EU organisation facilitating science-policy translation with EEA. Co-wrote proposal for €4m EU ProClimate project on governance & behavioural transformation, systems analysis, in living labs in six EU countries. Conducted fuzzy cognitive mapping of climate vulnerability in 2 EU countries (EU VITALISE project). Science Foundation Ireland awardee for €250K grant to reduce emissions in Irish farming using smart tech.
Global South:
Co-authored grant for Marine Institute’s €500k Climate Scan project, to build resilience against sea level rise in the Caribbeans. Fundraised for Reworld, Colombian conservation initiative endorsed by Jane Goodall, CNN & Mongabay. Sustainability Analyst at Terracon Ecotech, India. Worked on 10m tree reforestation project. Worked on SaltyBeats project’s Tunisian case study.
Achievements:
Nominated to co-author IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities by Irish govt. Contributed to climate policy reports published by UNDRR, EEA, Biodiversa+, & European governments. Presented at 10+ international conferences, including ECCA, EGU, ICSD, EUCC, & to President Mary Robinson. Engaged with stakeholders from EFRAG, OECD, UN-HABITAT, EPA, IOLN, local mayors, etc. Over 25 publications, and raised 5million euro in research funding (written 10+ grants). Featured in the Washington Post & Sligo Champion. Published research findings from Northwest Ireland for UN Committee on Social, Economic&Cultural Rights.
