Andrea is an environmental policy and governance specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Geography) from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Social Science (International Development) from RMIT University, and recently completed a PhD on the socio-cultural and political dimensions of policies for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) in Papua New Guinea through Charles Darwin University.

Her research focusses on the interface between people and the environment in developing countries using a political ecology approach. She has worked for over 10 years on community-based natural resource management, specifically community forestry, within Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, including Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Malaysia.
