“Knowledge only matters when it helps people flourish.”
Ariel is a transdisciplinary scholar who connects worlds that rarely speak to one another. He brings together academia and policy, science and art, and global visions with local communities. With training in political science, economics, philosophy, and environmental studies, his work spans negotiation studies, sustainability transformations, migration governance, and decolonial futures.
At GIGA, Ariel leads the Transfer for Transformation initiative, which strengthens knowledge exchange between researchers, policymakers, and diverse publics. He also contributes to the Leibniz Lab Systemic Sustainability, where he works on whole-of-society approaches to transformative change. His projects across Asia, Latin America, Africa, Europe, and the Global South explore how innovations in food systems, digitalization, and civic resilience can support equitable and sustainable futures.
Ariel collaborates with governments, NGOs, and international partners to turn complex ideas into actionable insights for climate justice, democratic resilience, and human flourishing. Beyond academia, he engages in literary and artistic work that weaves storytelling, visual thinking, and cultural critique. In all his roles, he is committed to nurturing imagination, fostering dialogue, and advancing transformation rooted in empathy, justice, and care.
