Dr. Carole-Anne Sénit is a political scientist by training, with a career spanning both research on and practice in the civil society sector. She obtained her PhD from Utrecht University, in joint supervision with the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), on civil society participation in the negotiations on the SDGs.
After her PhD, she worked within the civil society sector in France to implement the EU-funded project “Make Europe Sustainable for All”. She conducted awareness-raising and advocacy activities to engage civil society organizations, decision-makers and the lay public in the implementation of the goals.
She returned to the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University, as a postdoctoral researcher within the ERC Global Goals project in July 2019. Her research focuses on the steering effects of the SDGs on the inclusiveness of global sustainable development governance.
