Dr. Odeyemi is an independent researcher focusing on climate security, carbon neutrality, climate securitisation, and geoengineering governance. He completed his PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney in 2021. His dissertation titled, “Climate risk and climate security: A comparison of norm emergence under the FCCC, the UNSC and the EU, 2001–2019,” examines the evolution of climate-related norms across these three institutions. He was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellow at Kyoto University in Japan from 2021 to 2023, where he conducted research on climate security and carbon neutrality policies in Japan. From 2023 to 2024, he continued at the same university as a visiting researcher. In October 2024, the Hans Günter Brauch Foundation for Peace and Ecology in the Anthropocene awarded him an International Recognition Prize for an outstanding PhD dissertation that advances the bridging of peace and ecology. He received the 2023 Elsevier Open Science Recognition for contributions to advancing UN SDGs 13 and 17.
