I am an Associate Professor in Sociology and Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, affiliated with Uppsala University and the Institute for Futures Studies in Stockholm (Sweden). My research focuses on the intersection of climate change, governance, democracy, and fairness. In particular, I examine the capacity of democratic governance to respond to planetary crises and the effects of climate change on democratic development. I recently published the book Climate Change and the Endurance of Democracy (Routledge), which addresses these themes. I have also authored several articles on factors shaping public acceptance of climate and energy policies.
Between 2010 and 2021, I was engaged in public service rather than academic research, working for the Swedish government. During this period, I served as Deputy Director at the Ministry of Justice and as Principal Secretary to several governmental inquiries, including the 2014 Democracy Commission. I have also worked with international organizations and served as a political adviser within a European Union body.
