Emmanuel Taiwo is a Chartered Environmentalist and is presently undertaking doctoral research in Environmental Science at the University of Toronto. He previously advised Global Affairs Canada on equitable climate transitions and the UK Government on climate and environmental matters in Nigeria, where he also led and managed a £66 million UK-funded solar energy program, drawing on his prior experiences in international development, civil society, consulting, and a research portfolio spanning climate governance, energy transition, and resilient development, particularly across Africa.

He holds a first class bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Lagos where he was a 3-time recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Award of Excellence. He also completed a Master of Science in sustainable environmental management with distinction from the University of Greenwich as a Commonwealth Scholar and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford as an Africa Initiative for Governance Scholar. His doctoral research at the UofT focuses on tackling equity and justice barriers in climate and energy transitions. He enjoys spending time motivating younger people.
