Inês Salgueiro is a researcher at the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies (CECH), University of Coimbra, Portugal. Her work bridges moral philosophy and environmental politics, exploring how Kantian ethics can ground contemporary frameworks for sustainability, conservation, and animal welfare. Specifically, she investigates how ethical reasoning can reshape governance legitimacy and ensure the fair distribution of environmental risks in the Anthropocene.
Within the Earth System Governance network, she serves as a Research Fellow focusing on the Democracy and Power lens. She is also an active member of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), collaborating with the Standing Group on Environmental Politics.
Inês holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Coimbra, with a background in environmental ethics and knowledge and technology studies. She has published in leading journals such as Environmental Ethics, Environmental Philosophy, and the Journal of Moral Philosophy. Prior to joining CECH, she was a Research Collaborator at the Laboratory of Ethics and Political Philosophy at IFILNOVA and integrated the FCT-funded ‘Metacare’ and ‘Cinema and Ecosophy’ projects.
