About

I am a Docent in Ecological Economic History. I have a PhD in History & Civilization from the European University Institute, with extensive research on Finland’s transition from a solar based energy system to a fossil-based. I am examining how history can provide guidance towards future, how human activities have created pollution, but we have also solved earlier environmental problems like acid rain or the “ozone hole”, how we have caused extinction of species but also created valuable landscapes. Its ultimate goal is to use historical research to provide a roadmap for the ongoing sustainability revolution and adaptation to climate change.
