Kennedy is currently a PhD Candidate at the School of Social and Political Sciences, and the Climate and Energy College, University of Melbourne. He is also a Non-resident Research Fellow at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS). Kennedy’s primary research interest is in the political economy of the transition to low-carbon, climate resilient economies, with a focus on developing countries.
Kennedy has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Hons) from Kenyatta University, Kenya, and an Msc in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (Distinction) from the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, Shanghai, China. He is also a 2015 recipient of the prestigious Green Talent International Award for High Potentials in Sustainable Development.
