Michael Amoah Awuah

Michael Amoah Awuah is a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) at the University of Bonn, Germany. He contributes to ZEI projects on energy, climate and natural resource governance in Africa and the EU. He is interested in policy-relevant research on energy transition and climate change, the European Union’s (EU) Raw Materials Diplomacy and cross-border electricity grids. He has published in the South African Journal of International Affairs. Michael’s op-eds have been published by ZEI Insights, Future of Europe Observer among others. He contributed to policy briefs published by the African Development Bank. Michael is the author of ‘Energy Regionalism in ECOWAS and the EU: A Comparative and Polycentric Governance Study’, published by Nomos in May 2021.

Prior to ZEI, Michael worked at the International Center for Conflict and Human Rights Analysis (ICCHRA) in Ghana, the EU Delegation to Ghana and p4d-Partnership for Development. He also worked as a specialist consultant in charge of Research Innovation and Thought Leadership focused on European Markets at Accenture in Frankfurt, Germany.
