Nils is interested in the effectiveness of environmental policies, public finance institutions for land use, and participatory governance mechanisms for sustainable development. He is a methodological pluralist with an emphasis on quantitative methods. He holds a Bachelor in Political Science from Bremen University, a Master in Sustainability Economics from Oldenburg University, and a Doctorate from Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ. During is postdoc at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Research at Lund  University he worked on insurance values of soil biodiversity in the face of climate change. In his new position as Assistant Professor for Environmental Politics and Lund University he is currently extending his research portfolio towards transdisciplinary research regarding just and green transitions.
