Anthony Burke is a Professor of Environmental Politics and International Relations at UNSW, Australia. His writing works between political and environmental philosophy, earth system governance, and international law. His interests include the law of ecocide, the governance of biodiversity and climate change, ecological democracy, multispecies justice, and nuclear safety and governance.
His most recent books are The Ecology Politic: Power, Law, and Earth in the Anthropocene (with Stefanie Fishel, MIT Press, 2025), Institutionalising Multispecies Justice (with Danielle Celermajer et al., Cambridge University Press, 2025), and Uranium (Polity Press, 2017). He has also (co)authored over 75 articles including “Planet Politics: a manifesto from the end of IR” (Millennium, 2016), and “Interspecies Cosmopolitanism” (Review of International Studies 2023).
The Ecology Politic received honourable mention in the International Studies Association’s Theory Book Award, 2026.
