Sherrie Baver teaches Political Science and Latin American Studies at The City College of New York and The Graduate Center-CUNY. Her research interests focus on political institutions, environmental politics, and, especially, environmental justice struggles in the Caribbean, Latin America, and the diaspora. Among other awards, she has had two Fulbright Fellowships in the region.

Along with many articles and book chapters, she has published The Political Economy of Colonialism: The State and Industrialization in Puerto Rico (1993); co-edited Latinos in New York: Communities in Transition (1996); Beyond Sun and Sand: Caribbean Environmentalisms (2006); and a second edition of Latinos in New York (2017).
