About

I am Dr. Syed Imran Hussain Shah, Associate Professor and Head of Environmental Sciences at NCBA&E, Lahore, with over 14 years of experience in environmental management, waste-to-energy (WtE), circular economy, air quality, and climate sustainability.

As Pakistan’s first and only researcher to produce HTL bio-crude oil from municipal solid waste, through collaboration with Aalborg University Energy Department, Denmark, I bring rare international expertise in Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL)—a frontier technology advancing renewable fuels, resource recovery, and landfill diversion.

My HEC-funded research has been recognized by the Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, who personally visited my department and acknowledged my environmental innovations on official embassy platforms. I also serve as an Elsevier peer reviewer and hold multiple global certifications from Yale University, UNC-Chapel Hill, DTU, UNEP, and University of Illinois.

I am passionate about sustainable urban development, integrating bioenergy, green technology, and air quality management to drive innovation and climate resilience in alignment with global and U.S. clean energy goals.
