Valeria works as postdoc at the Earth and Life Institute at UC Louvain. Her research interests broadly lie at the crossroad of human geography, environmental sociology, and environmental governance. She is currently researching how mountain landscapes are perceived, valued, and used for renewable energy transitions.
Valeria holds a joint PhD from KU Leuven and Utrecht University, during which she researched the historical evolution of the UK climate policyscape (1956-2024) and the effects of policy interactions therein on the uptake of solar PV, offshore and offshore wind. Her PhD was affiliated with the ERC-funded PolyCarbon project. Valeria has an interdisciplinary background across the social sciences and environmental studies (University of Pavia, University of Copenhagen, and Cambridge University). She previously worked as research assistant at Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, UNEP DTU Partnership.
As part of the ESG community, Valeria is one of the co-conveners of the Decarbonization Working Group.
