Veronica Korber Gonçalves is an Associate Professor at the Institute of International Relations, University of Brasília, and at the Department of Economics and International Relations, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She holds a PhD in International Relations (2016) from the University of Brasília, and two Master’s degrees — one in Environmental Law (2009) and another in Political Sociology (2010) — both from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She leads the research group on International Relations and the Environment (GERIMA – UFRGS).

Since 2023, she has served as Special Rapporteur on Climate Justice for the Brazilian National Council for Human Rights. In 2025, she was awarded a CNPq Productivity Fellowship, a grant from Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development.

Her research focuses on climate justice within global climate governance. She is currently investigating Brazil’s role as COP30 host, particularly how the Amazon Rainforest is being mobilized in international negotiations, with a focus on just transition. She is also a member of the working group on Just Transition under Brazil’s National Climate Change Plan — an interministerial task force with participation from invited experts.
