Research Centre Tokyo

About the Research Centre

The Research Centre Tokyo is the successor of the Research Centre Shonan Fujisawa at Keio University. It was launched in 2026, following the move from Shonan Fujisawa to Tokyo. The Research Centre Shonan Fujisawa was itself the successor of the Earth System Governance Research Centre Tokyo, established 2009 at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

As part of the global alliance of Earth System Governance Research Centres, the Research Centre Tokyo collaborates closely with partner centres worldwide. Through this global network, the Centre places particular emphasis on transdisciplinary research and contributes to broader debates on the national implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Center is hosted by Center for Sustainable and Transformative Actions for Regeneration (Keio STAR), and is led by Prof. Kanako Morita.
