The Earth System Governance (ESG) Project endorses the 17th Nordic Environmental Social Science (NESS) Conference, hosted by Uppsala University, Sweden, from 9–11 June 2026.
The conference brings together scholars from across disciplines to engage in interdisciplinary knowledge co‑production and co‑creation in support of sustainability. The NESS Conference has a long-standing tradition of more than 30 years, convening biennial gatherings of researchers working within social science and humanities approaches to environmental studies across the Nordic countries and beyond.
Participants were invited to contribute to one of more than 30 workshop streams, with abstract submissions open until 8 December 2025.
The conference is organized by the Climate Change Leadership Unit at Uppsala University, which also hosts the Earth System Governance Project’s International Office.
