The 3rd Workshop on Archetype Analysis in Sustainability Research

Invitation for:

The 3rd Workshop on Archetype Analysis in Sustainability Research

October 30th – November 1st, 2019

at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic

Download Flyer

The workshop will follow up on previous two successful workshops held in May 2017 in Bern and March 2018 in Berlin. This time, it will be hosted by the Palacký University in the historical city of Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Objectives: The workshop will strengthen the network of researchers using archetype analysis in sustainability research. Specifically, it will provide a unique opportunity to:

  1. Reflect on the recent advances, current state and emerging thematic and methodological frontiers of archetype analysis (meanings, methodologies, quality criteria, insights into archetypes in different fields).
  2. Discuss how to tackle main thematic and methodological frontiers, using examples from selected ongoing research projects in different fields of sustainability research (e.g. agro-food systems, institutional analysis, land systems, climate change, etc.).
  3. Brainstorm on lessons learned and new ideas on useful archetype applications, especially in the context of science-policy-practice interfaces (e.g. archetype analysis used to up-scale and transfer knowledge).
  4. Identify themes and suggest partner consortia for 2-3 multidisciplinary project proposals with archetype analysis in the core (e.g. Horizon 2020).
  5. Generate a proposal for 1-2 new special issues.

Participants: The workshop will bring together 15-30 researchers from different fields of sustainability research. It is open to all researchers with experience and/or interest in archetype analyses.

Registration for the workshop: until August 15th, 2019, by email to Tomáš Václavík (tomas.vaclavik@upol.cz). When doing so, indicate whether you intend to:

  • present a paper or an ongoing or new project/research that uses archetype analysis;
  • suggest topics that you see having a great potential for joint research activities.

As we have space for maximally 30 participants, we might need to decide who can ultimately participate. Participation will be confirmed by 31st August or earlier. The workshop is free of charge, but participants need to cover their travel and accommodation costs themselves.

We hope to welcome you in Olomouc in the fall!
