Abby Lindsay is an environmental governance specialist, specializing in water and climate change. Her current research analyzes how the socio-political and knowledge dimensions of water governance affect stakeholder collaboration, based on fieldwork in Peru.
Her research interests extend to collaborative water governance, adaptive capacity and climate resilience, climate change politics, and trade and environment. Abby is a Research Fellow for the Earth System Governance (ESG) Network and a Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program.
From 2013-2015 she was the Coordinator of the Partnership on Technology Innovation and the Environment for the Center for Environmental Policy, a collaborative effort with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Defense Fund, and other public and private partners currently focused on scaling up water technology adoption.
Prior to coming to American University, Abby worked at the U.S. State Department on environmental cooperation, where she collaborated with over 15 countries to advance environmental protection and private sector implementation of environmental technologies and practices.
Abby teaches in the fields of International Environmental Politics, Water Governance, Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Development. In addition, Abby has received numerous awards, fellowships, and grants including, the Tinker Field Research Grant, the American University Graduate Research Fellowship, and the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning Ideas Incubator Grant.
