Jochen Prantl is Deputy Director of the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs and Associate Professor in International Relations at the Australian National University.  His research focuses on global governance, international security, and strategic diplomacy.  Previously, he held positions in the Department of Politics and International Relations, and Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. In 2007, Dr Prantl was the inaugural recipient of the Zvi Meitar/Vice-Chancellor Oxford University Research Prize in the Social Sciences, and in 2008, the University’s nominee for the AXA Prize for Innovative Research.

Dr Prantl held visiting and teaching appointments at Yale University, the German Council on Foreign Relations, Waseda University, the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, and the University of Brasilia. He also served in the Policy Planning Unit of the UN Department of Political Affairs and the Delegation of the European Commission to the United Nations in New York. He is Elected Member of the Global Studies Research Academy at Moscow State University.
