Mara is a postdoctoral researcher with the GLOBALGOALS project at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University. Her main research focuses on the institutional reforms and legalisation of global sustainability governance.

Mara has a background in international environmental law and law of the sea. She performed her doctoral research at King’s College London, funded by the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership and received the Modern Law Review Scholarship in 2022 and 2023. The topic of her doctoral dissertation encompasses the science-policy interface, namely the role of scientific advisory bodies in international environmental law-making.
