I currently focus on completing my PhD at the Institute for Sustainability Governance at Leuphana University Lüneburg while remaining affiliated with the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS), where I spent many years as a researcher in the department of Environmental Governance and Transformation to Sustainability.
In my dissertation, I explore how dedicated national sustainability institutions — such as councils, committees, and commissions for sustainable development or the future — shape policy-making, and how comprehensive sustainability states could look like. Moreover, I am passionate about governance approaches that address sustainability and climate challenges while also advancing democracy — like citizens’ assemblies and deliberative methods. I am also working on the SDGs and beyond 2030.
