Fabiana Barbi is a PhD candidate in Environment and Society at the Centre for Environmental Studies (Nepam), University of Campinas (Unicamp) in Brazil, where she collaborates with a research project funded by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) entitled “Governing Climate Change in Local Level: risks and political responses”, carried out under the Project “Urban Growth, Vulnerability and Adaptation: social and ecological dimensions of climate change on the Coast of São Paulo”, part of the Program on Global Climate Change of FAPESP, and supervised by Professor Leila da Costa Ferreira (Associate Faculty Member of the Earth System Governance Project).
She holds a BSc in Social Sciences and Sociology (University of Campinas, Brazil - 2002) and a MSc in Environmental Science (University of São Paulo, Brazil - 2007).
Her general research interests range from risk in contemporary societies to climate change policies. Her PhD project deals with local level political responses to risks brought by global climate change in Brazilian coastal cities, especially in the port city of Santos and other port cities around the world.
