Andrew is Professor of Environmental Politics in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. He is particularly interested in the governance of environmental problems in different political contexts, but especially the European Union. His work has focused on: the long-term impact of the European Union (‘Europeanization’) on the traditional style, structures and procedures of national environmental policy, on ‘new’ modes of governance, on environmental policy integration and sustainability in the EU, as well as comparative environmental policy analysis more generally.

In 2003 he was awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize for his work on comparative and multi-level environmental governance. In 2010 he was awarded a Major Research Fellowship by the Trust to undertake work on policy innovation in multi-levelled systems of governance. He is a Managing Editor of the international journal Environment and Planning C (Government and Policy) and sits on the editorial boards of Environmental Politics and the Journal of European Public Policy.

He has published over a hundred peer reviewed papers and chapters, and authored or edited 10 books, one of which, The Coordination of the European Union, won the Contemporary European Studies Association’s – UACES - ‘Best Book Award’ in 2007.
