The German Institute of Development and Sustainability – IDOS has become one of the world’s leading research institutes in development policy and global development. IDOS builds bridges between theory and practice through work based on the interplay between Research, Policy Advice and Training. Research at IDOS is theory-based, empirically-driven and application-oriented. It provides the basis for the advisory activities of the Institute. IDOS develops policy-relevant concepts, advises ministries, governments and international organisations, and refers to current policy issues. The training programmes of the Institute for university graduates and young professionals are integrated into research and advisory processes.

PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency was established in 2008 when the Netherlands Institute for Spatial Research (RPB) merged with the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (MNP).
PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency is the national institute for strategic policy analysis in the fields of the environment, nature and spatial planning. The institute contributes to improving the quality of political and administrative decision-making by conducting outlook studies, analyses and evaluations in which an integrated approach is considered paramount.

The Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES), housed at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, aims to bridge the gap between sustainability goals and outcomes by generating fit-for-purpose policy analysis.
IES’s mission includes strengthening policy design capacity in Southeast Asia to provide a deliberative arena and analytical insights through which countries in the South may realize their sustainability  objectives, while facilitating greater interaction of ASEAN and Asian voices within global and transnational sustainability processes.

The Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research at York University uses critical problem-solving approaches to pursue effectiveness, equity, and excellence in global health. Based at York University’s main campus in Toronto, Canada, the Dahdaleh Institute brings together global health leaders, researchers, practitioners, and students working at the interface between research, policy, and practice to address 21st-century global health challenges. The institute offers a transdisciplinary environment for research, teaching, and partnership-building in three thematic areas: Planetary Health, Global Health & Humanitarianism, and Global Health Foresighting. The Dahdaleh Institute is widely recognized for its collaborative and transdisciplinary research, its meaningful impacts, and its leadership in fostering a new generation of global health scholars and practitioners. York University is a leading international teaching and research university and a driving force for positive change.

Future Earth’s mission is to advance research in support of transformations to global sustainability. Future Earth convenes researchers and scholars from all parts of the world, across different societal and academic sectors, and across the natural, social, and human sciences. The Earth System Governance project is one of the 27 Global Research Networks of Future Earth.

2022 opening plenary of #ESG2022

The official opening session of the 2022 Toronto Conference on Earth System Governance was hosted at the conference venue and streamed live to virtual attendees.

This conference was opened by the Conference Chairs, and the Oran R. Young Prize for best early career paper was presented.

The keynote presentation was by Tzeporah Berman: “Oil Politics in a World on Fire”
