Conference Format

Will be possible to attend the 2022 Toronto Conference virtually?

Yes, virtual attendance is possible. It enables the author to present on all-virtual panels as well as all-virtual innovative session participation. Plenary and Semi-Plenary Sessions will be streamed for virtual participants as well.

What time zones does the 2022 conference accommodate for virtual presentations?

We seek to best accommodate global access for attendees to the 2022 Toronto Conference. Our approach is to plan our virtual program on October 20th and 21st according to three time zone groups, which will guide the shaping and time placement of our sessions.

How long should I present for?

The time alloted to your presentation will depend on the numbers of presenters in your panel. As a general guideline, the standard Q&A will be 30 minutes. Therefore, estimated guidelines are:
  • Three presenters in your panel = 20 minutes each
  • Four Presenters in your panel = 15 minutes each
  • Five presenters in your panel = 12 minutes each
  • Six Presenters = 10 minutes each
Please be mindful to respect the chair’s guidelines, and allow each presenter to receive sufficient space for presentation and questions.

Is there a conference schedule available?

Yes, the preliminary schedule is here, but the parallel-panel schedule will not be released until August.

Financial and Access Questions

Is financial support available?

Possibly. We are working with partner organizations to raise funds for financial support to early-career participants and participants from lower income countries. We expect limited funds to become available and eligible participants will be contacted individually.

Is a reduced registration fee available?

There is a reduced registration fee for students and participants from lower income countries, and for representatives of co-hosting institutions. Students (graduate and PhD) must supply a document, such as a student ID or letter of supervisor/university, stating that the student is currently enrolled at a college or university by email to ipo@earthsystemgovernance.org. The country of residence in a low, lower-middle, or upper-middle income economy according to World Bank classification 2016 is determining eligibility for the developing country rate. Note: eligibility thus is based on country of residence, not on citizenship. Eligible for the co-host fee are staff members of the co-hosting institutions of the conference, as well as the speakers of the semi-plenaries organized by the co-hosting institutions.

I need to cancel my participation. Can I ask for a reimbursement for the registration fee?

If you need to cancel your participation after registering, please email us at tc2022@earthsystemgovernance.org

In case of cancellation before 1 September 2022, we will repay the registration fee with a deduction of 25% for banking and administrative costs.
